WealthGen Investor is an Australian broker whose parent company, VFS Group, has been operating for more than sixteen years. We already look after many New Zealand clients on our trading platform, and we'd love to help you get started.
Opening an account from New Zealand
The process is a little different for New Zealand clients, but it's straightforward. You can open any account type with us using a New Zealand entity — including individual, joint, trust and company accounts — and we'll get you up and running as quickly as possible.
What we'll need from you
- Completed application paperwork (additional documentation applies to certain entity types, such as trusts and companies)
- Photo ID for all directors of a company
- Photo ID for all trustees and beneficiaries of a trust
Funding your account
Please note that New Zealand dollars cannot be deposited directly into the WealthGen Investor platform. What many of our New Zealand clients do instead is open a Wise account.
What is Wise?
Wise (formerly TransferWise) is an independent, UK-founded money transfer and multi-currency account provider, launched in 2011 and used by millions of customers worldwide. It is registered as a financial service provider in New Zealand. A Wise account lets you hold and convert dozens of currencies at the mid-market exchange rate, with a low, clearly disclosed conversion fee — typically far cheaper than a standard bank transfer. Wise is not affiliated with WealthGen Investor or VFS Group; we simply note it as an option that clients have found convenient.
Currencies we accept for deposit
Once your funds are in Wise, convert your New Zealand dollars into one of these four currencies and deposit into your WealthGen Investor account.
End-of-year tax reporting
We provide end-of-year reporting for all clients. Please note that reporting is produced in the base currency you select for your account — AUD, USD, EUR or GBP — rather than in New Zealand dollars. You may wish to discuss with your New Zealand accountant which base currency best suits your reporting needs.
